Lois was a vibrant and passionate lady. She truly loved life and lived it to its fullest. To those who knew her, the one word that personified Lois was love. She loved her family and friends, animals and babies and her West Virginia Mountaineers. She was blessed to marry her soul mate and life partner, Eugene Brewer 31 years ago.
The two of them gave meaning to the term "Golden Years." Lois and Eugene traveled the world, touring the United States on their Harley Davidson, taking cruises with family and friends, wintering in South Florida, but always returning home to the mountain state of W.Va. She was a member of the Bald Knob Methodist Church, an active member of her Van High School Reunion Committee, a leading member of a motorcycle riding group she affectionately referred to as the "Retreads." Lois was a caregiver, a homemaker, an excellent cook who could put Julia Child to shame and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Brewer, former publisher of the Lincoln Newspapers; daughters, Melissa Wilms (Camille) and Jean Ann Johnson (Craig); two beautiful granddaughters, Morgan Wilms and Morgan Johnson, also known as "Big Morgan and Little Morgan"; sisters, Iva Workman and Opal Pennington; and brothers, Denzil Peters (Ida) and Arney Peters (Thelma); as well as a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends.
The family of Lois Brewer wishes to thank Thomas Memorial Hospital Critical Care Unit for their support and care given to our loved one.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to Pitiful Paws Rescue, PO Box 241 Ona, WV 25545.
Service will be 11 a.m. Sunday June 28, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Betty Roach officiating. Burial will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
