He was born in Buchanan County, near Rowley, on June 2, 1920, the son of John Arthur and Hattie Alphaetta (Gates) Wilson. He graduated from high school in Rowley with the Class of 1938. On January 27, 1945, he and the former Geraldine Myers were married inIndependence, Iowa. They later divorced. On November 27, 1974, he and the former Marie Reuter Trebon were married in Denver,Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2008. Mr. Wilson farmed, milked dairy cows for over 70 years, and raised cattle all of his life. He also sold seed corn. He never really retired. He attended the Church of Christ in Brandon, Iowa, and Muscatine, Iowa. In addition to enjoying raising his cattle, he also was a baseball fan. He played baseball on the Walker, Iowa, team for 9 years and on the Rowley, Iowa, team for 1 year.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Rex Wilson, 3 sisters, Eileen Boelter, Virginia McFarland, and Thelma Hand, 4 brothers, Lloyd Wilson, Ralph Wilson, Leland Wilson, and Lyle Wilson, and 1 half brother, Duane Wilson.
