Ann M. Laymon, 84, of Normal, passed away Tuesday (June 23, 2015) in Bloomington with her children by her side.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1930 in Warsaw, Indiana. Raised by her mother, Inez and Harry Phend in Milford, Indiana, Ann went on to graduate with her bachelor's in elementary education from Ball State University, where she pledged Alpha Chi Omega. This is where she met her husband, Ronald L. Laymon, who was also studying education. They were married Aug. 24, 1952 in Milford, Indiana.

They began their teaching careers together in Elkhart, Ind. Then, with the advent of the birth of their daughters, Cynthia first and Linda second, she began her career as an extraordinary mother and homemaker. Ann displayed skills we rarely see in people today, as a seamstress, a chef, a decorator, a hostess and massive support system to her husband's career in academics. A true lady, she was smart, she was kind and she did not gossip, but had only respectful words for others.

Ann is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Alan) Meiners and Linda (Marcus) Theissing; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
