J. C. Pottle, Jr. moved to Fresno, CA at the age of 10 and attended Fresno City Schools. He was a proprietor of a grocery store for 5 years and then went to work for the San Joaquin Baking Company where he worked as sales manager until his retirement in 1955. He was a member of Las Palmas Masonic Lodge No. 366 as well as Scottish Rite and Tehran Shrine Temple. He had perfect attendance at the Fresno Rotary Club for 50 years. His hobby was making toys for children, which were given to the Fresno Nutritional Home, the Ladies Aid for Retarded Children and other charitable organizations.
