David Earl Bollinger, 84, formerly of Ashton, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony of natural causes.
He was born June 19, 1931 in Daniel, Wyoming, to David Henry and Minnie Pearl Elder Bollinger. He attended schools in Pinedale, Wyoming. After his schooling he joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in Germany during the Korean War.
After serving in the military he returned home and married Edna Faye Lewis on June 4, 1954 in Pinedale, Wyoming. They raised their family in Wyoming for a number of years before moving to Ashton in 1975, where they finished raising their family. Edna died in 2000, and several years after her passing Earl moved to Helena, Montana.
He was always a hard worker and this was a legacy that he passed on to his children. He was a trucker and worked in the oil and timber industries. He started and owned his own trucking company for a number of years until his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and working in his yard.
He is survived by his children: David Edward (Carol) Bollinger, of Helena, Duncan Earl Bollinger, of Ashton, Dale Eric Bollinger, of Ashton, Barbara Kay (Greg) Overton, of Orland, CA, Lyle Don (Kathy) Bollinger, of Ashton, Leslie Faye (Mike) Earle, of Gillette, WY, James Albert (Suzette) Bollinger, of Ashton, Charles Henry (Sue) Bollinger, of St. Anthony, Marc Allen Bollinger, Patricia Ellen (Kent) Gross, of Colusa, CA; a sister, Mildred Lewis of Pinedale, WY; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna; and a sister.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street in Ashton. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion and Idaho Honor Guard.
