Elvie Leon (Moon) Mullins was born April 19, 1929 in Post, Texas to Fannie and Ben Mullins.
At the age of 6 months due to father’s health moved to Glendale, Az.
Moon was raised in Glendale, and he finished school there. At age 17 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. Moon did his basic training at Lackland Air Base. After boot camp he was sent to Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1947 Moon and a small group was sent to reactivate Rapid City Air Base aka Ellsworth Air Force Base. While stationed there, he met his wife Shirley Meyer. To this union 2 children were born daughter Patricia Beaudin and a son Terry Mullins (who is retired military living in Thailand). Moon retired from Boeing Co., where he was in the missile field. He helped to put the astronauts in space and he was in charge of quality control. When he retired from Boeing they moved to Wyoming, buying 80 acres on pine ridge building a cord wood home with their son and daughters families on either side of them. The economy went down and their children had to move to find work. Moon and Shirley opened up a cafe in Osage, Wyoming called Grandma’s Place for 4 years. Then moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota working at the States Veterans Home, retiring from that moved to Missouri and working in Bristol Manor assisted living as managers for 4 years. Moon then moved back to Upton, Wyoming. Moon served on the board at the Senior Center in Upton, and was active there. With having no family in Wyoming and health declining, he moved closer to his grandchildren back to Missouri, where he passed away on June 23, 2015.
