She received her early education at the schools of her native land and later attended a ladies seminary...She accepted a position as governess in London, England, which position she retained for four years. Here she met Rev. J.R. Ruegg. In 1870 she came to the United States and was married to Mr. Reugg on May 18 of that year. The family came to Nebraska in the fall of 1880 and located on a farm northwest of town (Syracuse). Mr. Ruegg organized the Evangelical church soon after his arrival and in 1881 the first church building was built and dedicated, largely through his efforts.
To Rev. and Mrs. Ruegg were born five children, Miss Theodora Ruegg of Syracuse, R.T. Ruegg of Palmyra, Mrs. A.O. Webber of Page, Nebraska, Mrs. M.J. Stong of Syracuse, and J.S. Ruegg of Robstown, Texas. All of the children except J.S. Ruegg were with her at the time of her departure. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
