Don Leslie Searle, 55, American Fork, died of a heart attack Friday, October 27, 1978.
He was born January 17, 1923 in American Fork to Leslie C. and Ruby Parker Searle. He married Helen Adamson on July 22, 1942 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Mr. Searle had been an agent for Union Pacific Railroad since September 1941. Active in the LDS Church he was an elder in the American Fork 23rd Ward. He was an avid sportsman.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Linda) Walker, American Fork; Mrs. Lynn (Julie) Warnick, Riverdale; Mrs. Bruce (Dawna) Borchert, Richmond; eight grandchildren; his parents, American Fork; two brothers and two sisters, Max P. Searle and L. Kent Searle and Mrs. Brent (Myrna) Milne, all of American Fork; and Mrs. Richard (Clea) Cook, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 30, at 12:00 noon in the American Fork Twenty-third Ward Chapel, under the direction of Bishop Douglas Nicholes.
The family prayer was offered by Lynn Warnick, prelude and postlude music was played by Edith Wright and the invocation was by Kent Searle.
Bishop Nicholes offered a few remarks and Susan Cook gave a life sketch. John Van Wagoner was the first speaker followed by a vocal solo by Jack Larsen. He was accompanied by Ann Larsen. Bishop Brent Milne was the concluding speaker after which Lydia Kirkpatrick played an organ medley. Bruce Borchert offered the benediction and the dedication of the grave in the American Fork City Cemetery was by Stanley Walker.
Casket bearers were Max Searle, Glade Shelley, Eldon Roberts, Jack Wadley, Vern Boren, Dale Peters, Ranold Devey and Glade Steiner. The profusion of flowers were cared for and arranged by the members of the Twenty-third Ward Relief Society.
Military rites at the cemetery were performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
