I.M. Davidson was the son of Franklin Buchanan Davidson and the former Abbie Marie French. From these, his ancestors included Cmdr Hunter Davidson, CSN, and Benjamin Brown French, Sr, Superintendent of Public Buildings in Washington, DC, during the Civil War. He served as a volunteer ambulance driver in France in 1916, and later for the US Air Corps. He was married to the former Augusta W. Falk, but no children.
