Barbara (Fenner) Cho, 89, passed away on May 8, 2015. Born on February 20, 1926, in Newport, New York, she was the youngest child of Dean and Jennie (Williams) Fenner. Ms. Cho graduated from West Canada Valley Central School in Newport in 1943. After finishing high school, she worked the family farm until pursuing her college education in 1955. She received a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1959 and a master of arts degree in zoology from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie in 1961. Ms. Cho spent most of her adult life in the suburbs of Chicago, where she worked as a homemaker, a biology teacher at a community college, a bus driver, and manager for several bus companies. Although Ms. Cho left Upstate New York in the 1950s, her love for the land and for her friends and family in the area endured. She would often return in the summers to spend time with her sister, Muriel, who passed away on March 17, 2014, and her friends from childhood, Ruth Butler of Herkimer, Anita Shaver of Herkimer, and Dorothy McKenna of Mohawk. A great teller of stories and lover of old sayings, Ms. Cho once inadvertently observed that "hindsight is always 50-50". She is survived by her sons, Eugene Cho of Howell, MI, Adrian Cho of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, and Elliot Cho of Marina Del Ray, CA; by her grandchildren, Vincent Cho, Brianna Cho, Audrey Cho, and Emmett Cho; and by Adrian's wife, Janine Lanza, and Eugene's former wife, Karin Cho of Crest Hill, IL. Ms. Cho's marriage to Yanglai Cho ended in divorce. She was predeceased by brothers, Raymond, Everad and Forrest Fenner; and by her sisters, Erma Crossett, Muriel Fenner, and Gwendolyn Moskowitz. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11th, at Noon at Newport Cemetery.
