Obituary for Janet Kay Burgess
Janet Kay Burgess, 59, Quenemo, Kansas passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at her residence in Quenemo.

Janet was born January 21, 1956 Lenexa, Kansas the daughter of Earl Brumett and Doris (Ryrerson) Brumett. She grew up in the surrounding communities of the Kansas City metro area.

On January 17, 1973, Janet was united in marriage to Larry Burgess at Paola, Kansas. They were happily married for 42 years.

Janet and Larry started their lives together in Paola, Kansas later moving to Rolla, Missouri, then Ottawa, Kansas in 1997 and settling in Quenemo in 2010. Janet was a lifelong homemaker. She was a loving wife and mother and pet lover. Her many dogs and cats meant a great deal to her. She cherished their companionship and would take any stray she might see just to prevent it from being hurt.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, Earl Brummet.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Burgess of the home; two sons, Christopher Lee Burgess, Quenemo, Michael Ray Burgess, Quenemo; five sisters, Brenda Chowny, Jacksonville, Florida, Roxanne Brumett, Paola, Betty Brumett, Quenemo, Sharon Diaz, Ottawa, Mary Hamic, Olathe; four brothers, Richard Brumett, Olathe, Roger Brumett, Ottawa, Delbert Brumett, Ottawa, Johnny Brumett, Ottawa; and her mother Doris Brumett, Ottawa..

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Quenemo, Kansas.
