Alice Chesworth, 95 of Independence, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2006, at the Rosewood Health Center, while listening to her grandson, Don Chesworth III, sing hymns of their faith.
Alice was a dedicated and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who gave her life in service to her family, her church and her community through the ministry of music and teaching. She was still singing solos in church and teaching young children how to read when she was 92-years-old. We will all miss her.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Clara (Belle) and Arthur Lane; her husband of 46 years, Donald Chesworth who died in 1981; and her two sisters, Thelma Silsby and Grace Kanawyer.
She is survived by her son, Don and his wife Catherine of Rochester, NY; her three grandchildren, She is also survived by two great grandchildren; her nieces; and her nephews.
Service will be June 8 in the Groves Community Chapel. A graveside service will be June 9, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, IA.
