Joshua “Josh” Allen Pope, age 27, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Josh was born January 30, 1988 in Burke County.
He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather, David Allen Pope, Sr. and Maternal Grandfather, Joe Franklin.
Josh was a graduate of Hibriten High School. He wrestled for Hibriten and South Caldwell and played football for South Caldwell. He was undefeated in MMA with Team Predator. Josh was currently working for MDI.
He had a love of life and adventure and had an infectious laugh and smile. It was Josh’s wish to be an organ donor, and today others are benefiting from his strong heartbeat and breath. Others are able to see and others will be blessed with his many gifts. Josh loved his family dearly and he will be missed.
He is survived by his Father, David Allen Pope, Jr. and wife Tina of Lenoir; his Mother, Sherri Rene Franklin Pope of Lenoir; Sister, Jessica Rene Pope, Step-Sister, Ashley Gilbert, Step-Brother, Danny Bolick, Paternal-Grandmother, Paula B. Pope; Maternal-Grandmother, Juanita Franklin; Grandmother, Charlotte Estes; Aunt, Ashlyn Pope; Uncle, Andrew Pope; Uncle, Terry Joe Franklin; Uncle, Gary Franklin; Aunt, Debbie Franklin Looper; Aunt Debbie Reyes; Cousin, A.J.Villeda and Cousin, Anthony Villeda. He is also survived by many other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and relatives.
A celebration of Josh’s life will be held 5:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Day 3 Church in Granite Falls with Pastor Lynn Parson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Laurel Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Evans Funeral Service.
