He married Norma Jean Miller on June 24, 1951, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Natrona, Kan.
Arlo served in the Korean War with the Army Signal Corps and the Kansas Army Reserves. He worked for several municipalities in Kansas before moving to Peoria, Ill., in 1978. He retired as a building inspector for the City of Peoria, Ill., in 1992, and moved back to Kansas. Arlo had a love for the outdoors which included gardening, fishing, hunting, but doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him the most joy. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Arlo is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma; three daughters, Teresa (Mike) Hauschild of Wichita, Kathy Keller of Columbia, Mo., Sandra (Tracy) Dame of Basehor, Kan.; former son-in-law, Roy Keller of Columbia, Mo.; brother, Thaine (Edith) Beitler of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, with Reverend Chad Trunkhill and Vicar Henry Blickhahn presiding. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Military Honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the church.
