Richard Guerena Vasquez, 94, of Casa Grande, died on June 21, 2015 at home.

Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 by the Rev. George Kunnel. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Vasquez was born on Dec. 24, 1920 in Globe, and was a son of Juan Vasquez and Maria Guerena. He served in the Pacific Theater of World War II with the Marine Corps and later was a meat cutter. He retired from Don Market after 25 years.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and the American Legion in Casa Grande. He enjoyed word search puzzles and watching western movies and was an avid Dodgers and Steelers fan.

Survivors include two daughters: Theresa Herrera, of Casa Grande and Marcelina Ortega, of Laveen; a brother, Joe G. Vasquez, of Gold Canyon; a sister, Margaret Sanchez, of Tucson; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa; a daughter, Susana Rodriguez; a grandson, Augustine Herrera Jr.; two sisters and four brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Homestead Hospice of Mesa or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
