Opal Violet Carter, 89, of Clarktown, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on June 22, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Archie Carter and Lou “Icy” Rockwell Carter and was a homemaker.

Opal was a graduate of Valley High School, a member of Long Run Free Will Baptist Church, and their Ladies Circle.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Robert A. Carter, David S. Carter and Paul E. Carter and a sister, Anna Altman.

Surviving are a sister, Edith K. Barnett and sister-in-law, Sandy Carter, both of Dayton; a niece, Sandy (Bob) Yuenger of Sciotoville; two nephews, Chris (Stephanie) Carter of Colorado Springs, Col. and Terry (Ruthie) Carter of Dayton; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a dear friend, Janet Lovisa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Kevin Gullion officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Burial Park.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s after 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
