Capitalist, philanthropist, publisher, philosopher, college professor. Trustee and professor of philosophy at Centenary College of Louisiana. He was a World War II Marine Corps aviator, ending as a captain with awards of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. He developed the J.B. Beaird Co., which his father had begun as a welding service in 1918, and turned it into the Beaird-Poulan firm, one of the world's largest makers of chainsaws. Publisher of the Shreveport Journal from 1976 to 1999. He formed the nonprofit Charles T. Beaird Foundation in 1960, which since has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving causes and nonprofit organizations. He delivered the seconding speech for President Dwight D. Eisenhower's nomination for a second term at the 1956 Republican National Convention.
