Marilyn was preceded by her husband and life-partner, Don Myers. She is survived by her daughters, Dara Myers, Karen Myers, and Jane Oda; her granddaughters, Sarah and Mary Oda; and son-in-laws, David Oda and Santiago Orozco.
Marilyn worked at NCR as a secretary early in her career after attending Miami University in Oxford, OH. At that time, part of her job was to roller-skate through the tunnels of the NCR building to deliver messages.
Marilyn met Don Myers, her future husband, through her cousin who attended University of Cincinnati, and who drove to Dayton with his friend for a home-cooked meal. Don and Marilyn married and went to Newfoundland with the Air Force. The couple then returned to Ohio; upon giving birth to three daughters, Marilyn devoted all her time to raising three strong women in Oakwood.
Marilyn loved the outdoors and all the wildlife she encountered. She was a Girl Scout leader, an avid birdwatcher, and won many contests identifying wildflowers. She had a bridge club every Wednesday for 30+ years with her dearest female friends. Marilyn also enjoyed regular Bible studies at her home. We will miss her feisty spirit and loving heart.
Just as in life, Don and Marilyn are united. We will celebrate their lives in a joint memorial funeral service. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio. A short memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00pm. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, Ohio. There will be a vehicle procession to Woodland Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairhaven Church, 637 East Whipp Rd., Centerville, Ohio 45459 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 West Whipp Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459.
