Nancy Smith and William Bailey Standifer, were reported to have been married September 30, 1847, in Bastrop County, Texas. Nancy's husband, William Bailey Standifer was a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto. He came to Texas in 1829 with his mother and siblings and were among the original settlers in Stephen F. Austin's Little Colony, which consisted primarily of what is now northern and western Bastrop County, Texas.
