Dwight B. Morris, 71, of Beverly, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was born July 16, 1943 in Watertown, Ohio, son of Vance G. Morris and Evelyn Bingham Morris.

He had been a crane operator and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1961. He served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966. He was aboard the USS Little Rock for two and a half years and served in Guantanamo during the Cuban missile crisis. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #37 F&AM in Beverly, Ohio, Cambridge Scottish Rite, American Legion Post #389 in Beverly and was the first Vietnam Veteran to join the post. He was also a member of the Forty and Eight in Beverly.

He loved his family, grandchildren and riding his motorcycle.

He was married April 27, 1974 to Lois Hartshorn Morris who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Brenda "Nikki" Shriver and husband Kevin of Waterford; two grandchildren, Shayna Shriver and Austin Shriver of Waterford; a brother, Jack Morris of Greeley, Colorado; a sister, Robbie L. Yarnall and husband Bruce of Charleston, S.C.; a half- brother, Craig Morris (Cheryl) of Vincent; 4 nieces and 1 nephew; Brother in-law, Doug Wiley; sisters in-law, Glenda Flowers (Dave) and Virginia Magers (Carl Jr.).

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in-law, Jean Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Rob Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery with Military services at the grave.
