EMINENT MAN
DIES AT LAFAYETTE
Lewis Leighninger, aged 75, one of the wealthiest and most prominent men of West Lafayette, died Sunday afternoon at 3:30. For a little over a week he had been suffering with erysipelas and heart trouble. He was born on the old Leighninger homestead on "The Plains" east of West Lafayette and spent all of his long life in that vicinity.
He is survived by a wife and the following brothers and sisters: L.C., B.F. and A.K. Leighninger, Mrs. John Ferguson and Mrs. Hannah Phillips. All of them live in or near West Lafayette, with the exception of Mrs.Phillips, who resides at Star City, Ind. Mr. Leighninger had long been a member of the M. E. church and was a man of integrity and honor. The funeral services will be conducted Tuesday.
He was the son of George Leighninger and Mary E. "Polly" Wolfe and the husband of Miranda Miller, whom he married August 16, 1855.
