Actress. She worked primarily on the Broadway stage, in such plays as "Lysistrata," "Medea," and "All God's Chillun Got Wings." Gentry also appeared in several films, including "Come Back Charleston Blue" (1972), "Black Caesar" (1973), "Claudine" (1974), "Greased Lightning" (1977), "America" (1986), "Def By Temptation"(1990) and "Bad Lieutenant"(1992). She was the grandmother of actor Terrance Dashon Howard.
