On Monday June 8, 2015, Everett Melvin Cooper Sr., age 80 entered into eternal peace. Born in Rising Sun, Maryland on April 24, 1935, he was the son of the late Edward and Violet (Smith) Cooper. Everett received his early education in the Cecil County Public School System graduating from George Washington Carver High School, Elkton, Maryland in 1953. He was his Senior Class President. As a young boy, he developed a lawn mowing business after school to earn extra money. As he got older he passed this business down to his younger brother, Walter. He then worked at the Sinclair Service Station in Rising Sun, Maryland after school. He was a catcher in the Rising Sun Industrial Baseball League. After high school, Everett was an avid baseball and Yankee fan. He was supportive of his son during Little League, High School, and College baseball years. On April 19, 1957 Everett went to work for the Mass Transit Administration in Baltimore City. He was drafted into the United States Army on April 8, 1958, serving two years and was honorably discharged on March 16, 1960. After his tour of service to his country, he returned to the Mass Transit Administration and worked for 35 years before retiring May 1, 1992. Everertt was united in holy matrimony to Diane Denis on September 27, 1975 at Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY. From this union one son was born, Everett Melvin Cooper II. Everett was predeceased in death by his sisters, Violet Lane, Virginia Samuels and Betty Cooper, and his brothers Paul Christie, Harold Christie, Leonard Christie and Raymond Cooper. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Diane; a son Everett of Baltimore, MD; a brother Walter Cooper (Maggie) of LaCrosse, Va; brother-in-law, Fred Denis of New York, NY; sister-in-law Carmen Davis of Marietta, GA; grandchildren Chardonnay Cooper of Edgewood, MD, Everett Melvin Cooper, III and Cannon Cooper of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many countless friends and neighbors. Everett was a caring husband and devoted father, grandfather, neighbor and friend and will be truly missed by all who loved him. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 350 River Rd., Sykesville. Interment will follow in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills. - See more at:
