Ellen was born February 13, 1932, in New York, New York, the daughter of the late Henry and Johanna (Dietze) Schneider. She married Reverend David Hill on August 21, 1954, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2013.
Ellen took Masters’ degree courses for education and was a fifth grade teacher for Kenowa Hills School Corporation and Williamston Community School Corporation in Michigan until her retirement. She also served as a missionary in Puerto Rico teaching fifth grade English from 1972 to 1980.
She was a member of Brookhaven Wesleyan Church in Marion and Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church in Williamsville, New York. Ellen enjoyed reading, tending flowers, and attending church.
Survivors include: son, Steve (Ginger) Hill of Americus, Georgia; daughter, Lorrie (Michael) Contreras of Marion, Indiana; sister, Inge (Roy) Carena of Bronx, New York; six grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six step grandchildren.
