Tim Lee Smith

Tim Lee Smith, 51, of Dothan, AL passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at his home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Michael Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL, 36303.

Tim was born March 5, 1964. He was a Gospel Preacher for over 30 years starting in 1979. Preaching was his passion along with writing poetry under his pen name of H.L. Gradowith. He enjoyed reading, playing the dulcimer, fishing, hunting, supporting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, and camping. But most of all spending time with his family was his real joy. He was a faithful servant to the Lord and taught the Gospel until his last days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leland and Geneva Gray, and Wayne and Beatrice Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, his "Sweet Desert Rose," Freda Smith; his daughter Amanda Lewis and her husband Jimmy; his grandson and his "best buddy" Jacob Lewis; a brother Tony Smith and his wife Sherri; nieces, Rachel, Abby and a special niece Kacy Smith; special family members, Adam, Mandy, Tori and Colby; several aunts, uncles, and numerous other family members and friends; special pets that keep him company, Lucy and Sally.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lewis, Adam Lewis, Michael Hatcher, Tony Smith, Clyde Gott, and Jason Worley.

A very special thank you to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the many days and nights spent caring for our husband and father.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements.
