Richard K. Swanson, age 83. Richard was born in Chicago on Sept. 9, 1922. He attended Purdue University for two years before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Cannon Co 333rd Inf. from November of 1942 to January of 1946. He was in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he spent his entire working career in the family business, Chase Supply Heating and Air Conditioning Co. He, along with other members of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Chicago, started the "Mr & Mrs Club" in 1947. The club is still active today. Richard was a devoted family man. He spent time with his children and grandchildren at his summer home in Lake Geneva, WI. Together they would boat, swim, ski and fish. He then retreated to his winter home in Highland Beach, FL for the last 21 years. He was a resident of the Wyndemere Senior Living Campus in Wheaton for this past year. Richard was the beloved husband of 59 years to Gertrude, nee Johnson; loving father of Nancy Lynn (David) Moe and Kenneth (Gwen) Swanson; proud grandfather of Eric (Sharon) Moe, Allison Moe and Genna Swanson; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation Wednesday, June 28, 10 a.m. until time of Service 11:15 a.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Road (1/2 blk west of Rt. 83), Oakbrook Terrace. Inurnment Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
