Brent Randall Shull, 61, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born July 29, 1953 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of E.R. “Bud” Shull and Joyce Louise Swearingen Shull. On July 19, 1974 he married Donna Jean Simmons in Westfield, IL.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty years, Donna Shull of Casey, IL; daughter, Melody Shull of Storm Lake, IA; daughter, Angie McElravy and husband Greg of Jewett, IL; son, Eric Shull and wife Jessica of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Allison and Garrett McElravy of Jewett, IL and Emma and Natalie Shull of Casey, IL; brothers, Brian (Tami) Shull of Effingham, IL; Rodney (Dena) Shull of Casey, IL; Ivan (Cheryl) Shull of Casey, IL; sisters, Brenda (Mike) Summerville of Chatam, IL and Lisa (Terry) Williams of Martinsville, IL; mother-in-law, Shirley Simmons of Westfield, IL; brother-in-law, Robert A. (Liz) Simmons of Casey, IL; sisters-in-law, Debbie Simmons of Westfield, IL; Sherry (Rob) Robison of Westfield, IL; Kathy Simmons of Charleston, IL; Karen (Sean) Lowry of Champaign, IL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a loving Church family and great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, “Bud” Shull and Joyce Shull Hanners; stepfather, Deon Hanners; father-in-law, Bob Simmons and sister, Amy Jo Shull.

Brent was a 1971 graduate of Casey High School. He received a welding certificate from Lake Land College and a water treatment sewer plant certification. Brent worked for the City of Casey as a meter technician and had previously worked for Casey Tool and Machine and Hutton’s Auto Parts for many years.

Brent was a faithful member of the Casey First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. On many Sunday’s Brent would lead the worship service with his incredible voice. Brent and Donna enjoyed camping, traveling and loved spending time together and with their family. Brent loved God, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry; he would always be available for remodeling projects for his family and friends.

Brent will always be remembered as a kind and gentle person who always had a loving smile on his face and the love of Jesus in his heart.

A Celebration of Brent’s Life will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Casey First Baptist Church with Rev. Jon McDonald and Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Casey First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL.
