Sergeant Russell Owen Whitesell, had enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 11, 1941. Sgt. Whitesell, who was a gunner, was killed in action on January 11, 1944 when his plane, War Bride aka Old Faithful, [303rd BG, 358th BS] was shot down by enemy aircraft near Detmold, Germany.
