A homemaker until her husband's death in 1969, Mrs. Andrews worked for many years at Northern Telecom, retiring in 1993. Family mattered more than anything to Rena. She loved children and was genuinely concerned about those less fortunate. She was fiercely independent and always youthfully energetic.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Kay Perkins and husband, Steve of Durham, and Robin Denise Andrews and partner, John Lombardi of Cary; grandchildren, Joy Leftwich and husband, Wil of Arlington, and Rachel and Drew Lombardi of Cary; great grandchildren, Aaron and Leah Moorefield, and Emma Kay, Gracie and Abigail Leftwich; her twin sister, Lena Stephenson of Winchester, VA, a sister, Edna Pridgen of Durham; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband E. Ralph Andrews; brothers, Otis, Leroy, Edwin, Jack Claiborne and Charles Earp, all of Durham and sisters, Willie Crowe and Maide Ross of Nampa, ID.
