Cecil "Squint" Odell Garner, 58, of New Castle, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 4, 2010. He was born Dec. 2, 1951 in New Castle, IN, to Opal Garner and the late Rassie Odell Garner. He graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1970. He was a South Paw Golden Glove Boxer and he was an undefeated Indiana State Golden Glove Boxing Champion. He loved riding his Harley Davidson and watching his daughter, Devyn, play softball. Also, he loved spending time with family and friends. He worked construction and did factory work most of his life. He also enjoyed camping, reading, movies, nature and spending time with family and his many friends. He was an excellent artist.

He is preceded in death by his father, Odell Garner; his brother, James Garner; and his great-niece, Carmella Garner.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters; two stepdaughters; his mother, Opal Garner who he lived with for many years; three brothers; two granddaughters; six step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-niece and nephew.

Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Max Downs officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
