Helen Ogle James, 92, passed away June 18, 2015. She was born December 24, 1922 in Greendale, Virginia.

Mrs. James was a founding member of Belvedere Garden Club and Wood Grove Garden Club. She was also a member of the Nineteenth Century Club, Coterie, and Women’s Auxiliary of Memphis and Shelby County Medical Society.

Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. Luther Curtis Ogle, Jr. and Dr. Hal P. James.

She is survived by her children, Linda Ogle Roach (Travis), Dr. Curtis Ogle (Cheryl), Jimmy Ogle, and John Ogle (Christina), Rodney Lee James (Sandra), Ernest Easley James (Dana); grandchildren, Elise Roach, Ashleigh Stegall, Jim Ogle, Brandon James, Bryan Lee James, Stephen Ogle, and David Ogle; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her aunt, Beryle Miller and uncles, Don Hagy, Harold Hagy, and Jim Hagy, for whom she was like an older sister. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her kind and generous spirit of service to others.

The family will receive friends from 4-6:30 p.m. Monday, June 22 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23 at First Baptist Church, where she was an active member. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Memphis, TN or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
