1st Lt. Jason G. Timmerman, 24, of Tracy, Minn.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota Army National Guard, Montevideo, Minn.; killed Feb. 21 when an improvised explosive device detonated as he was assisting injured soldiers in his unit in Baghdad. Also killed were Army Staff Sgt. David F. Day and Army Sgt. Jesse M. Lhotka.
Jason returned to be with the Lord, on February 21, 2005 at the age of 24 in Baghdad, Iraq.
Jason is survived by his wife Teresa (Hildebrand); his parents Gary and Pat of Cottonwood; his three brothers: Eric & fiance Lisa Terpstra, Craig & Travis; his grandparents: Andrew & Mary Timmerman and Anna Verly; his in-laws: Wes, Carol and Karen Hildebrand; as well as many other relatives and friends in the United States and Canada.
Jason graduated from Lakeview High School in Cottonwood, Minnesota and went on to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Education and a Masters of Science in Computer Education Technology at Dakota State University in Madison, SD. Jason and Teresa were married on December 20, 2003. At the time of his deployment, Jason was employed at North Star Insurance Company of Cottonwood.
During his short time with us, Jason shared his passion for life and his country. He will be remembered for his love, laughter and a sense of adventure in bringing joy to all those around him.
Jason fought for his nation, and in following his lead, memorials can be made to a memorial fund in his name at Minnwest Bank South in Tracy, MN or Home Federal Bank in Brookings, SD and Marshall, MN. Blessed be his memory.
Funeral services for Jason Timmerman, age 24 of Tracy were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, MN.
Interment was in the St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley, MN.
The Tracy Area Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Published in the Tyler Tribute on March 6, 2005.
