BATON ROUGE – Charlie Cairel Turner, 71, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Tupelo on Oct. 12, 1942, to Cairel and Bertha Turner. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved to garden, travel, cook and make music. He loved his family.Survivors include his wife, Louanna Turner; a son, Charlie Cairel Turner Jr. of Texas; a daughter, Sonja Zadel of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepson, Luke Goring of Finland; a stepdaughter, Kalie Goring of Ft. Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren, Ashley, Anna and Jay Zadel, and Tabita, Ronju and Minttu Goring; a brother, Calvin Turner of Tupelo; two sisters, Ruby Turner and Betty Kingsley, both of Tupelo; and a host of nieces and nephews.Private family services were held Friday, Dec. 13, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with brother-in-law, Robert Kingsley, officiating. Entombment was in Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum. Lee Memorial was in charge of local arrangements.
