Obituary, Florida Times-Union, June 19, 2015
A. Reginald Eaves, 81 of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away June 9, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville Florida. He was born to his parents, Elder Cecil R. Eaves and Mrs. Gladys C. Eaves.

He graduated from Stanton High School in 1952. He received his Bachelor's degree at Morehouse College in 1956. Following his tour of duty with the U.S. Army, he pursued his law degree at the New England School of Law. He was Executive Director of SNAP (South-end Neighborhood Action Program), and Commissioner, Penal Institutions of the Boston Institute of Suffolk County at Deer Island. In 1973, he was appointed by Maynard Jackson, the newly elected mayor of Atlanta, Georgia as the first to serve as Commissioner of Public Safety and served in this capacity for 4 years. He was also elected Fulton County Commissioner for 11 years.

A. Reginald Eaves was a member of the Church of God and Saints of Christ, the Morehouse College Alumni Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and many civic organizations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Martha Eaves Kelly, Jehu R. Eaves, Dr. John H. Eaves, Sr. and Emmanuel C. Eaves. He leaves to cherish his memory five siblings: Abigail Eaves Jones, Susianna Eaves Anderson (Bakersfield, CA), Rachel Eaves-Fox, Mary A. Eaves and Samuel J. Eaves, I; Sister-in-Law, Evelyn I. Eaves, countless nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to his nephew, Fulton County Commissioner, John H. Eaves, Jr., for his diligence during his time of need, and his sister, Mary Eaves for providing loving and perpetual care.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 21, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at 1st Tabernacle (corner of W. 24th & Stuart Streets). Interment will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 12:30 P.M. Visitation will be at the mortuary from 6 to 8:00 P.M on Saturday and at 1st Tabernacle Sunday morning from 8:00-9:45 A.M. Arrangements entrusted to: A. B. Coleman Mortuary, Inc., 5660 Moncrief Road, Jacksonville, FL.
