Daughter of Fred and Nina Julia Starrett Vaughn. She was a former LPN with Stephens County Hospital, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Toccoa where she was a member of the Church Choir, the XYZ, and served on several Church Committees. She was also a member of The Pilot Club and Garden Club in Toccoa. She was known for being a great southern cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duffie Burgess; and daughter, Dorothy Jan Couch. She is survived by her daughters, Julia Symmonds (Richard) of Temple, TX, and Melody Couch Eddy of Toccoa; son, Michael Couch of Temple, TX; grandchildren, Brooke Symmonds Potgieter (Theo), Carson Symmonds (Cassandra), Trenton Symmonds (Ann), Carly Couch, Piper Couch, Natalie Eddy Edge (Kyle), and Matthew Eddy (Jen); great grand-children, Sage Symmonds, Bethany Grace Eddy, and Olivia Morgan Eddy.
