GILLIAM, Mr. David L. Sr., 92, of Weirton, WV, died November 2, 2013, in Weirton, WV.
He was born December 21, 1920 in Union, S.C., son of the late Coleman and Mary Fair Gilliam.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Mae Gilliam; five brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. Gilliam was a graduate of Dunbar High School in Weirton, WV and was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II.
He was a Furnace Keeper for Weirton Steel until his retirement. He was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by two sons, David L. (Beverly) Gilliam, Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., Brett Gilliam of Weirton, WV; two daughters, Arita (Alvin) Rue of Pittsburgh, PA., H. Lynn (Craig) Jackson of Cheseapeake, Va.; his loving companion, Rosie Gory of Steubenville; three grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Calling hours are Friday November 8 6-8 p.m. at the Vinson House of Mortuary.
Funeral services are Saturday at 11 a.m., at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers a gift to David's favorite charity, the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Arrangements are entrusted to Vinson House of Mortuary.
