John appears to have come to Philadelphia in 1847 aboard the Susan E. Howell, which left from Londonderry.

His brother, William, and sister, Jane Scott, are also buried in this plot. His son, John (d 1854), is buried with his brother, Robert.

A Chas (60), Rachael (50), Easter (20), and Jane (19) Carson (Carsin) arrived in Philadelphia in May (~15th) 1854 aboard the ship Superior. The passenger list gives their previous residence as Letterkenny (Co. Donegal). The townland may have been Loughnagin (Aghanunshin parish).

1) John is one of my ancestors - on 18 Feb 2017, a DNA match was discovered with a descendant of John's sister, Esther, thereby confirming Charles and Rachel as John's parents.

2) John may have had another brother, James (d 1892), who was married to a Jane Mitchell and lived near Moorestown, Burlington Co. NJ. This relation is not confirmed but is speculated based on a 1849 marriage record in Aghanunshin, with James home listed as Loughnagin and his father listed as Charles Carson.
