SANTA CRUZ SENTINEL (Santa Cruz, California) - Thu - 21 Dec 1933
"Former Resident of Santa Cruz Is Dead in Santa Clara"
Ward Jarvis, member of an old-time Santa Cruz family, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Jarvis, died Monday in Santa Clara, where he had been a resident for many years. He was in business there and had also served that city in an official capacity.
The father was a pioneer vineyardist, as was his father's brother, the late John Jarvis, among the first to plant vines in the Vine Hill section. The father also was a leading grocer in Santa Cruz and built the Jarvis block where part of Hotel St. George is now located. The son, Ward, attended Mission Hill school and was in the employ of his father.
Ward is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura Jarvis; sisters, Mrs. Stella Lillick of Atherton and Margaret Andrews of LaJolla; and brothers, Thomas C., Edward K., and Robert I. Jarvis of Santa Monica. He was 64 years old. Private funeral services were held, and the interment was at the Santa Clara cemetery.
