Paul Hester, 84, LaFayette Road, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at his home following a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Living Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Darrell Crawford and Butch Hester officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time for the service Friday at the church.
Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Trenton, he was born May 1, 1931, the son of the late Ewing Edgar and Byrdie Bell Bracey Hester.
He was the former co-owner of Hopkinsville Implement company and Hester's Saw Shop. Following retirement, he was a truck driver. He was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a former choir director. He taught Sunday school for 44 years. Also, he was a musician, having sung in several quartets and running the Downtown Opry.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Welch Hester; his daughter, Paula (Eddie) Yoakum, Hopkinsville; his brothers, Ed (Marilyn) Hester, Hopkinsville, Charlie (Barbara) Hester, Henryville, Ind., and the Rev. Butch (Betty) Hester, Allegre; his sisters, Annie Ruth Agnew, Hopkinsville, Margaret Lack, Georgetown, Ill., Evelyn Wyatt, Burnsville, N.C., and Linda (Bill) Vinson, Marion; and a grandson.
