DIENST, Kathleen W., age 91, a resident of Harrison Township, Michigan passed peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Martha T. Berry Medical Facility, Mount Clemens, MI.
She was born on May 20, 1924 in Detroit, MI to the late Carl and Dora (Jeffers) Watters. On April 20, 1947 in Washington Twp., MI, she was united in marriage to John M. Dienst. Together they shared 49 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1997, six days shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Kathleen worked as a bookkeeper for several different companies, including; Hudson Motors, Furniture City, and Burning Tree Golf Club. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, listing to country music, and always welcomed a friendly challenge in the game of Scrabble. Kathleen could often be found working in her yard and tending to her flower garden - one of her most favorite activities.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah (Ron) Ryniewicz, Kimberly Jwinski, and Karen (Jim) Skolas, sons Jack (Linda) Dienst, Kerry (Melissa) Dienst, Jeff Dienst, and Robert Dienst, 13 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Carlene, Doris, and Mary Jo, and brother Carl “Sonny” Jr. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her son Greg in 1977, and siblings Virginia, Katherine, William, and Frank.
Visitation will be held in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mt. Clemens on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 (time is pending) in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Twp., MI. Memorial donations in memory of Kathleen may be sent to any veteran’s organization of donor’s choice.
