Janette A. “Jan” Smith, 74, of Bowling Green, died February 21, 2011 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born on October, 1, 1935 in Norwalk, Ohio. She married Jerry L. Smith on June 20, 1970 and he survives in Bowling Green. Jan was a caseworker for the Wood County Veterans office for many years, and later she became the founder and owner of Insured Consultants in Bowling Green from 1993 to 2010. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Jan loved spending time with her grandchildren, loved listening to music and singing. She also loved meeting friends and family at their cottage in Coldwater, Michigan. She is survived by two sons, Thomas P. (Susan) Veitch of Solon, Ohio, Scott L. (Michelle) Smith of Napoleon, two daughters, Melissa (Thomas) O’Hara of Troy, Mi., Leeann (Jeffrey) Smith Ratnow of Baltimore, Maryland, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the DUNN FUNERAL HOME located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster Street. Services are private and burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Bridge Hospice 1069 Klotz Rd. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
