Arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held Friday, June 19 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Don was born March 9, 1935 in Franklin, Kentucky to Richard and Bessie Norwood.
Don began his career as a butcher at Houchens and later as a stock clerk at Kroger, both located in Franklin. While at Kroger, he served as the union steward and after 20 years with Kroger, was hired as a Business Agent for the United Food and Workers Union, Local 1557 in Nashville, Tennessee. He retired from the UFCW after 20 years. In his retirement, he worked at the Wildcat Car Wash for several years. His favorite hobby was crappie and bass fishing. He was also a great mechanic and loved bird hunting.
Don is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Hines Norwood; his three children, Allen Norwood of Franklin, KY, Susie Hardesty (Steve) of Smyrna, TN. and Sandie Norwood of Franklin, KY.; his grandson, Bronson Norwood (Heather) and a great-grandson, Cooper Norwood, all of Franklin, KY.; 3 step-children Michael Spivey (Erica), Jessie Spivey (Christy) all of Franklin, KY. and Wendall Frank Spivey of Franklin, KY.; 8 step-grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren; He is also survived by his former wife, Mary Gene Norwood and his sister-in-law, Shirley Norwood; and several nephews, a niece and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Bessie, his sister Dorothy Jean King and his brother Thomas Norwood.
