Paul Howard Isbell passed from this life on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 6:30 a.m., peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Paul was born on April 14, 1944, in Stuttgart, AR, to Sidney Isbell and Rose Fern Craig. The youngest of 12 children, Paul grew up in Arkansas and California.

Always adventurous, he seemed to have lived many lives. He joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and finished his schooling there, also earning a degree in electrical engineering while stationed in Fairbanks, AK.

After the Air Force, he came back to Arkansas and was training to be a crop duster pilot. He met his wife, Shirley Fox, at a barber shop in Stuttgart; and they married ten days later in Grand Prairie, TX. They would have celebrated 50 years together on July 6, 2015.

Paul was a natural musician and singer, often singing Elvis as well as Elvis did. Music was always a big part of his life, and he taught several people to play along the way, including his son, Dan, and daughter, Karen. They started The Gravel Road Band while living in Colorado for a brief time.

Family was the most important thing to Paul, and he welcomed so many into our family. He lived in Dallas, TX; Colorado; and Arkansas; and the last 30 years in Tehachapi, where he had a successful HVAC business.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Rose; father, Sid; brothers, Ernest, James, Sid Jr., and Will; sisters, Velda, Mary Lou, Sue, Agnes, Gladys Jo, and Willie. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Isbell of Tehachapi; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Doug Wickersham of Tehachapi; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Nadene Isbell of Tehachapi; Steve Isbell of Las Vegas, NV, Mike Isbell of Tehachapi; granddaughter, Krissy Caldwell and fiancé Mark Ratliff of Tehachapi; step-grandchildren, Morgan and Brooke Langston of Tehachapi, Danny Wickersham of the United States Navy, Katie Chambers of Tehachapi, David Wickersham and Christina Wickersham of Tillamook, OR; one brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Fay Isbell of Hermitage, AR; and so many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and wonderful friends, too numerous to count. And our first great-grandchild, due to make an appearance in late October 2015, created by Krissy Caldwell and Mark Ratliff.

Rest in peace, my love - we got this!

A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held on June 22, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., at the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel. Paul's ashes will remain at home with family. Wood Family Funeral Service is handling the services.
