His birth in 1807 was an educated guess by a Kolb genealogist. It is a convenient speculation that he is buried in his father's home-place cemetery. He is thought to have died locally and not left the Sumter County area. He died in either 1877 or 1878. At least from here on down in the Sumter County, S. C., area, the surname is pronounced "Culp". He was overseer on the R. B. Cain plantation. My computer records suggest 9 children with Sarah Geddings: Ephriam Poole (1830-1894); Benjamin F. (about 1834-before 1880); Mary Henrietta (about 1836-?) m. James Timothy Jackson; Elizabeth Mathilda (about 1839-?) m. Richard Barkley; Anna Cain (about 1844-?) m. James Timothy Jackson; Adelaide (1846-1899) m. George Ardis; Mary (about 1847-?) m. ?; Frances (about 1849-?) m. ?; and Lucy (about 1853-?) m.?.
