Oscar Hershel Akin aka Herschel was the 6th child of 8 children and 4th son of 6 sons born to William Oscar Akin b.5 Apr 1844 in Paris, Henry,TN and d.29 Jul 1938 in Aurora, Ozark Twp, Barry, MO and Susan Ann (Walker) Akin b.15 Aug 1844 in Rhea Co., TN and d.22 Oct 1939 in Aurora, Ozark Twp, Barry, MO and who were married on 27 Oct 1867 in Burkesville, Cumberland, KY.
Herschel died at the Cardwell Hospital in Stella, Newton, MO, however, his normal residence was Pioneer, Barry, MO.
Herschel was married twice in his life.
1st Spouse:
Effie Jane Lemaster b.Mar 1884 in Lawrence Co., MO & d. 27 Oct 1905 in Aurora, Lawrence, MO and who were married 29 Sep 1904 in Aurora, Lawrence, Mo.
Effie and Herschel had one unamed infant son b.29 Jul 1905 in Barry Co., MO & d.18 Aug 1905 in Lawrence Co., MO. Sadly the child died from cholora infantium.
Effie also sadly died shortly after losing her infant due to Tuberculosis.
2nd Spouse:
Nora Belle Bassett b.22 Jul 1886 in Leann, Barry, MO. & d.11 Apr 1963 in Leann, Barry, MO.
Married abt 1912 in Barry Co., MO.
They had 3 children:
1. Louis Herschel Akin b.8 May 1911 Chandler, Lincoln Co., OK & d.13 Jul 1954 Wheaton, Barry Co., MO.
Married: Lois Alene Stark abt 1932 in Barry Co., MO.
