Helen was born on Nov. 1, 1919 in Galton, Illinois, the daughter of H.T. and Mary "Mayme" Oye. She was a 1936 graduate of Tuscola High School. She married Philip Cler and they later divorced. For several years, she was a dispatcher for the Illinois State Police at Pesotum. She married Edward McCartney on Feb. 5, 1976.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Donna (George) Cumming; a sister, Mildred Renken and several nieces, two nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a stepgrandson and four brothers, Harry, Edwin, Alvin and Willie Oye.
According to her wishes, she will be cremated and there are no services.
