P. B. MIDDLEBROOK, JR., 88, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in Abilene. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2015, at the Anson Church of Christ with Bill Dean and Sam Middlebrook officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home.

Born June 9, 1927, in Jones County, P. B. was a son of the late P. B. and Lucille (Flanagan) Middlebrook, Sr. P. B. married Dorothy Jo Griffith on April 24, 1945 in Stamford. His first job was at age nine, during the depression, at Benham's Dairy in Anson. He was never without a job. He was drafted into the Navy during WWII. He took advantage of the opportunities offered him and with dependability, integrity and a good hard work ethic, became a successful businessman. Later in life he sold his Ford Dealership, then started preaching in New Mexico and Arizona, and later he was a missionary on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Utah.

He loved to travel America. The family drove 2,000 miles every summer for many years, sleeping and eating on the side of the road. A well-remembered phrase, "Get ready kids, we're about to pass the Grand Canyon!"

Notice-nonstop and see-there was so much to see and we saw it all.

He was generous, adventurous and honest in all areas of his life. He would rather be cheated himself, rather than have anyone think he was cheating them. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved all sports (playing them and watching them.) He was the elder brother to 11 dearly loved brothers and sisters. He loved his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, all the spouses that have come into the family through them, and loved his friends like brothers and sisters. He walked with God, placing his faith and hope in God. He too was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

P. B. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, (Dorothy), a son (P. B. "T" Middlebrook), two brothers (Bradley Middlebrook and Johnny Middlebrook); and a sister (Dolris Dean).

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Davis; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Middlebrook; five grandchildren, Trampas Cox (children, Ali and Easton), Angie Trinidad (children, Justin, Sarah and Jacob) P. B. "Tex" and Vickilynne Middlebrook (daughter, Mackenzie), Craig and Amber Davis (son, Carth), and Chantel Middlebrook (children, Cristi, Shane and Royce); three brothers, Charlie Middlebrook, Sid Middlebrook and Shannon Middlebrook; five sisters, Jean Bryant, Sally Booth, Brownie McKnight, Sandy Kenley and Valencia Lane; and two great great-grandchildren, Desirae Marie Renfro, Kaycee Ann Marie Farquhar.

Family visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Adams-Graham Funeral Home.
