DELPHI - Harold Richard "Poppy" Conner, 75, of Delphi, IN, died at his residence on Wednesday, February 7th. Born in Winamac, IN on November 21, 1931, to the late Paris Monroe and Minnie (Baker) Conner, he resided in Lafayette for 45 years before moving to Delphi 4 years ago.

He married Barbara A. Herbert in 1955 and she preceded him on July 29, 1995. He married Gwen (Weis) Conner on December 23, 2001 and she survives.

Mr. Conner worked in the Mix Department at Rostone for 26 years, retiring in 1996. He was employed at National Homes 18 years prior to that. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of Hickory Grove Church. He enjoyed woodworking and landscaping.

Surviving with his wife is a son, Larry Turner (wife, Cindy) of Monticello; two daughters, Sandra Conner Delucca (husband, Raymond) of Logansport and Sue Turner Watjen of Greencastle; four step-sons, Wayne Morgan (wife, Cora), Kenneth Morgan, all of Orlando, FL, Frederick Weis (wife, Fonda) of Monticello, and Jerry Weis (wife, Denice) of Camden; a brother, Art Conner (wife, Betty) of Lafayette; a sister, Julia Downing of Peru; 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceded by 13 brothers and sisters.

Visitation 1 hour prior to the 1:30 PM service Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Pastor Ken Smith officiating; interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
