Joseph Frank Murphy
Joseph Frank Murphy, 87, Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at Spring View Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1926 in Marion County. Murphy was a United States World War II Army veteran, a retired farmer and a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Lula Wathen Murphy; his second wife, Mildred Shannon Murphy; two sons, Paul and Eddie Murphy; his parents, James T. and Mary Etta Abell Murphy; seven brothers, Joe Paul, Sam, Bill, Charlie, Bernard, Lawrence, and Vernon Murphy; and three sisters, Irene Daugherty, Lula Hughes and Mary Price.
Survivors include: six sons, Louis (Diane) Murphy of Rosedale, Ind., Robert (Mary Ettie) Murphy of Lebanon, George (Barbara) Murphy of Campbellsville, Lawrence Murphy of Louisville, Allen (Brenda) Murphy of Lebanon, and Roland Murphy of Stanford; eight daughters, Rita (Nick) Thomas of Calvary, Mary Lou (Leonard) Spalding of Lebanon, Glenda (Carl) Spalding of Lebanon, Myrtle Garrett of Lebanon, Gloria (Joe) Borders of Elizabethtown, Lucy (Kenneth) Godby of Perryville, Christine (Mike) Sisk of Estll Fork, Ala., and Twila (Joey) Sallee of Jessietown; two step-children, Virgie (Jay) Johnson of Danville and Mike (Kathy) Shannon of Lebanon; 37 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Bill Bowling officiated. The Marion County Veteran's Honor Guard conducted military honors.
Pallbearers were his sons and step-sons.
Honorary pallbearers were his daughters and step-daughters.
Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.
