John J Arnold
Walnut -- John J Arnold, 84, a resident of Walnut, died Thursday night at the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard where he had been cared for the past year.
The son of John and Ida Arnold, he was born Sept 12, 1885, at Lorraine, and grew to manhood there.
He was first married on July 29, 1908, to Katherine Wilson at Hazelton and she died Feb 9, 1911.
On Dec 22, 1915, he was married to Alta M Martin at Attica and they made their home there until moving to Walnut in 1939.
In addition to Mrs Arnold he is survived by two sons, Raymond, Apple Valley, Calif, and Valgene, Wichita; two daughters, Mrs Opal Doolin, Wichita, and Mrs Goldie Hershberger, Walnut; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Grace Gray, Aurora, Mo; and four brothers, Bill, Marionville, Mo; Clyde, Wichita; Ray, Grants Pass, Ore; and Emory, El Dorado.
He was a member of Lodge 229, AF&AM, and received his 50-year membership pin last Nov 22. He also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Walnut United Methodist Church where funeral services will be at 2 pm Sunday, conducted by the Rev Hubert Hahn. The Masonic lodge will be in charge of graveside rites at Walnut Cemetery.
The Pierce Funeral Home of Erie is in charge of arrangement.
